Goals

2016-17 GOAL AREAS FOR THE
WISEBURN UNIFIED SCHOOL DISTRICT
BOARD OF TRUSTEES / TOM JOHNSTONE

 

Goal Areas
 

     Goal 1 - Continue to make the relationship with Da Vinci Schools a top priority.  This strengthens our instructional program K-12 and improves the quality of life for our families and community.  Reinforce taking positive steps to bridge our two entities at every level - administration, teachers, Boards and community.

 

     Goal 2 - Move forward with the Standards-Based Common Core Initiatives in English Language Arts/ELD, Mathematics through Math Leadership Corp/COTSEN and the Next Generation Science Standards (Talking Teaching/Project Lead the Way).

 

     Goal 3 - Fully implement the Future Ready Schools Framework with a focus on Technology Tools for Success (Digital Learning), the Personalization of Learning, Digital Citizenship and 21st Century Skills.

 

     Goal 4 - Create and refine schoolwide programs of Positive Behavior Support for All Students, including cultural sensitivity, counseling support, school safety/security and Response to Intervention: Social/Emotional Intervention Supports.

 

     Goal 5 - Begin implementation of the WUSD Arts Strategic Plan, a 5-year Plan that was developed by Wiseburn teachers, administrators, WEF, community members and Arts professionals during the 2015-16 school year.  The Strategic Plan will be monitored and guided by the Arts Steering Committee.

 

     Goal 6 - Complete Phase I of the Wiseburn High School Project by June 15, 2017 and initiate Phase II by December 20, 2016 with a scheduled completion date of January 31, 2018.

 

     Goal 7 - Continue to be highly visible at all of our schools and community events.  Continue to collaborate and work harmoniously with our collective bargaining units to ensure that the District remains united and fiscally sound.

 

     Goal 8 - Work with the Wiseburn Education Foundation to implement their new Strategic Plan and make this the year the WEF researches, recruits and hires an Executive Director (Spring 2017).

 

     Goal 9 - Reconvene the Health Benefits Committee in January 2017 to research CVT, SISC and PERS health benefit rates and make a recommendation to the Board with the goal of making Wiseburn health benefits more competitive with surrounding districts.
